The Prince of Dreams
Exhibition at Palazzo Vecchio
15 September 2015 - 15 February 2016
The visit to the exhibition “The Prince of Dreams. The stories of Joseph in the arazzi of Pontormo and Bronzino” brings you inside the Hall of the Two-Hundred in Palazzo Vecchio, open to the public just for this occasion. Come discover the secrets of arazzi (tapestries) and the trilling adventures of one biblical figure: Joseph, son of Jacob.
The series of tapestries was woven for the patron Cosimo I Medici from cartoons by major artists of the 16th century: Agnolo Bronzino, Jacopo Pontormo e Francesco Salviati. For the first time since 1882 the group of tapestries is exhibited together in Florence, after a 27-years restauration. The touring exhibition was inaugurated in the Palace of Quirinale in Rome and has been previously presented in the Royal Palace in Milano.
